Stepping Stone in e-Commerce: Pakistan becomes part of Amazon Sellers' List



Pakistan has finally been added to Amazon's Seller List as of May 21, 2021, as the announcement came from Abdul Razak Dawood, Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, and Investment.

"We are excited to announce that as of today, Pakistani entrepreneurs are eligible to sell on Amazon. We are eager to work with Pakistan’s dynamic business community, including small and medium-sized sellers, and help connect them with customers around the globe," a message from Eric Broussard, Vice President of Amazon International Seller Services reads.

The Announcement: Pakistan Added to Amazon's Seller List

The unofficial announcement came at the beginning of this month by the Commerce Ministry as well as Prime Minister Imran Khan himself.

On May 21, 2021, Abdul Razak Dawood took to Twitter to share the official announcement of Amazon adding Pakistan to its Sellers' List.

Amazon's Sellers' List is a great platform for businesses (B2B, B2C) and individuals to reach potential customers online. Pakistan being added to Amazon's List is an important milestone in the e-Commerce industry as it will open new doors for young entrepreneurs and SMEs.


Amazon Seller Account Guidelines

Before signing up, make sure you’re ready with the following:

  • Business email address or Amazon customer account

  • Active Phone number

  • National ID for identity verification

  • For Businesses – Trade License if you are the owner and a Power of Attorney only if you are a legal representative

  • For Individuals – Either of recent bank account statement, credit card statement or utility bill

  • A bank account where Amazon can send you proceeds from your sales

In 2020, online retail platform Amazon reported a net income of 21.33 billion U.S. dollars, up from an 11.6 billion U.S. dollar net income in the previous year. During the same fiscal period, the company’s revenue amounted to more than 386 billion U.S. dollars.
